INVOcell is an intravaginal culture (IVC) system and consists of the INVOcell culture and retention devices. The first and only FDA-cleared option of its kind used in fertility treatment, INVOcell uses your body as an incubator for fertilization, making you an even greater part of the process.
The Process of INVOcell
At the beginning of this treatment you will be prescribed medications to help your body produce eggs.
Step One – Fertilization
During the egg retrieval procedure our fertility specialists will retrieve the eggs from your ovaries using a minimally invasive procedure during which you will be sedated. Then, your eggs will be mixed with sperm. The eggs and sperm are placed in the culture device for fertilization and incubation.
Step Two – INVOcell Insertion & Incubation
Our fertility specialist will place the retention device inside your vagina. This device will remain in your body from 3 to 5 days. During this time, you should avoid any strenuous physical activity or any other activity that could change the temperature of the vagina, such as taking a bath or using a sauna.
Step Three – INVOcell Removal & Embryo Assessment
After this incubation period, our fertility specialist will remove the device from your body. Our embryology team will examine the quality and quantity of the embryos that have developed.
Step Four – Embryo Transfer
Our fertility specialist will work with you to deetermine the amount of embryos to be transferred. You can freeze any remaining embryos for future use.
