What is infertility?
Infertility refers to the biological inability of a man or a
woman to conceive. Infertility may also refer to the state of
a woman who is unable to carry a pregnancy to full term.
If a couple has not been able to conceive a child after six
to 12 months of frequent sexual intercourse without using any
birth control, they are considered infertile. It's estimated
that approximately 15 percent to 20 percent of couples in the
United States are infertile. You're not alone and there are many
treatments that are now available to help couples going through
infertility. To date there have been over 3MM births around the
world from In-Vitro Fertilizations since the procedure became
available in 1978.
When should I check with a fertility specialist?
You should check with fertility specialists such as those at
C.A.R.E. fertility:
If you are under 35 years of age and have been actively attempting
to conceive for more than one year without success
Or
If you are over 35 and have been actively attempting to conceive
for six months without success.
In addition, you should consult a specialist if you suffer from
any of the following conditions:
1. Blocked fallopian tubes
2. Endometriosis
3. Failed to conceive after three to six months of taking Clomid
or Femara
4. Genetic concerns
5. Irregular menstrual periods
6. Low sperm count
7. Multiple miscarriages
8. Ovarian Cysts
9. Ovulatory problems
10. Pelvic adhesions
11. Uterine fibroids
If you suspect that you may be infertile, it's always advisable
to check with a fertility specialist.
Does C.A.R.E.
fertility have a donor/egg sperm program?
When a donor's sperm is necessary, C.A.R.E. fertility can help
you find the right bank for you, we have various affiliations
with several banks and egg donor organizations. We can also help
you when your own donor is beingutilized, along with in-vitro
fertilization or IUI procedures. C.A.R.E. fertility provides
safe and reliable methods to achieve your pregnancy.
Is infertility curable?
Infertility can be temporary, mainly because many of the conditions
that cause infertility can be corrected. We recommend that both
male and female partners be tested for infertility because in
about 40 percent of the cases, the infertility is due to male
factor (such as low sperm counts); in about 40 percent, the problem
occurs in the female partner. The remaining cases of infertility
are those of unexplained infertility, where no known cause is
found.
At C.A.R.E.
fertility, we're committed to bringing you the best
in infertility treatment and assisted reproductive technologies
in Southern California.
How are donor eggs used?
In-Vitro fertilization can be performed with donor eggs, especially
in cases of increased maternal age, genetic problems, or any
hormonal irregularities that impair egg production and/or egg
quality. Donor eggs are fertilized in vitro with the male partner's
sperm, and then the embryo is transferred to the female partner's
uterus.
What exactly is "assisted reproductive technology"?
"Assisted Reproductive Technologies" encompasses
all of the procedures in which fertility specialists and embryologist
work with the patient to achieve a pregnancy. It involves direct
manipulation of eggs, sperm, and embryos. Examples of assisted
reproductive technologies are:
IVF (In-Vitro fertilization)
CSI (Intracytoplasmic sperm injection)
PGD (Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis)
